Jordan and the Nagoya Protocol
Jordan signed the Nagoya Protocol the tenth of January 2012. The instrument for ratification was accepted twelve October 2014 when the Protocol came into force. The Section Nagoya Protocol gives more information on the implementation of the Protocol.

The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) hosted a Reef Check EcoDiver Training in Aqaba over July 1 until 5th. The training of local divers is part of JREDS’ marine environmental program to raise awareness and knowledge about coral reefs and to build up a team of qualified divers for further reef monitoring activities at the Jordanian Red Sea coast.
The training was funded by the German Government through the GIZ project "The “Sustainable Use of Ecosystem Services in Jordan” (EKF-ESS)". This training was designed and supervised by Prof. Mohammad M. Kotb (Reef Check Course Director and Coordinator of the Red Sea region), and operated by Mr. Mohammad Al-Tawaha; JREDS Marine Program Manager.
14 trainees from different professional backgrounds were subjected to a specialized course to be certified as an EcoDiver. The Participants represented the Royal Jordan Naval Force, Instructors and Dive-masters from local dive centers and Aqaba Diving Association.
